Funky Buddha Hothouse

Project Scope: Strategy Consulting

Project Length: 6 months

Every consulting project begins the same way: cards on the table.
All the feelings, frustrations, and embodied “what-the-hell-do-we-do-now” honesty that comes with leading a growing team through change.

When Funky Buddha — a well-loved regional yoga studio — came to me, they had a unique challenge.

Their internal world (warmth, inclusivity, deep respect for yoga’s roots) didn’t quite match their external world (marketing, visuals, and communication).
The brand had evolved, but the story hadn’t caught up.

The Challenge

Despite a loyal community and thriving in-person experience, Funky’s digital presence felt disconnected.

The in-studio atmosphere radiated human connection and safety — but the brand voice and imagery leaned corporate, rigid, and masculine.

The goal was clear:
Realign the brand’s inner energy with its outer expression — and build a communication strategy that could scale without losing its heart.

The Process

Over six months, I guided Funky Buddha through a strategic and somatic brand audit — part analytics, part intuitive sensing.

  • Conducted a full digital communications audit, analyzing content, engagement, and conversion patterns.

  • Immersed myself in their culture by attending a class to experience the brand’s felt sense firsthand.

  • Mapped how operations and internal communication systems informed their external storytelling.

  • Facilitated strategy sessions to clarify offerings, refine messaging, and create a communication rhythm that aligned with their actual community energy.

What emerged was a clear pathway: simplify, realign, and scale with integrity.

Larissa Link | Executive Director

“Bold energy, clear vision, and innovation for getting things started…

She can see very clearly what is working and what is not. She can both take in other’s experiences and learn from them, and also make clear and concise decisions from this collective and her own experiences.

A very clear felt sense of how energies drive everything we do.

She helped our studios see that what was felt in our studios (warmth, openness, respect for the system of yoga and it's long history, all bodies and beings welcomed) was not what our marketing was showcasing. We moved from our original owners' more masculine and firm energy to the felt sense of human connection and freedom to be oneself. It's amazing what her fresh perspective, clear vision, and overall communication did for our team.

She has a strong understanding of the neuroscience behind why we make the decisions we do, in addition to her wisdom in feeling and supporting people.

She took one of our lackluster offerings and turned it into a huge success for us by creating a new SMS campaign that was simple, clear, and effective, and we saw a $10,000 return from that one little campaign. (big deal for a small business!) She also understands voice, connection, and human behavior patterns and has a great understanding of how to motivate through authentic communication that gets straight to the heart and shares your big picture but also keeps to your clear voice.

The Transformation

The process led to a complete strategic realignment — and ultimately, a referral for a full rebrand in collaboration with Lydia Write Good to visually and verbally capture Funky Buddha’s essence.

By clarifying the offerings and bringing consistency to the brand voice, Funky is now positioned to:

  • Communicate more authentically with their audience

  • Grow sustainably through clear, human-centered messaging

  • Build long-term trust through a brand that feels like their actual culture
